I like to go in nature and discover the hidden facts of the very raw sorrundings and understand the way the nature projects things to us, the ultimate universal expression of presenting life and the invisible bonds that connects us all. We are all one. Through my work practice my aim is to connect people. So I look for objects and concepts which bind us and bring us together.
I believe time is myth, fiction and not singular. It has an interconnected structure very similar to the biology of the human being as an existential being. In my work I try to overlap time like the wrapping structure of dream. I seek inspiration from dreams.
What is a dream – reality seen by closed eyes or the open eyes?
Day-dream or Night–Dream?
We are all the reflection of our own self. Our own self means the culture, the society, the history and all the values that shape us and our mind-set at large.
We are all visitors here, impermanent. The deeper we look inside ourselves, the more universal we become. I am fascinated by the concept of human as a temporal being and try to bring the same in my work.
My artwork takes a critical view of social, cultural and personal issues. In my work, I ponder over how life evolves from the deeper areas of the mind by constructing and deconstructing the dreams, fantasies and reality that are part of our childhood and adult culture. Having engaged subjects as diverse as making constellations on earth, childlike animated drawings and using my body as a tool, my work reproduces familiar visual signs, arranging them into new conceptually layered pieces.
Often times these themes are combined into painting, installation, land art, performance and video that feature mundane domestic objects juxtaposed with whimsical objects, and sometimes embellished with gold.
While I use a variety of materials and processes in each project my methodology is consistent. Although there may not always be material similarities between the different projects they are linked by recurring formal concerns and through the subject matter. The subject matter of each body of work determines the materials and the forms of the work.
The elements of reality and abstraction go hand in hand, the way the abstract nature of our thought process is based on the reality of the situation around us. So, I try to merge realism and abstraction on the same plane. The bulk of my work relies on the energy of the process.
Each project often consists of multiple works, often in a range of different media, grouped around specific themes and meanings. During research and production new areas of interest arise and lead to the next body of work.
