Irene Anton bio.

Irene Anton

My artistic work nowadays consists in relief, object, installation and landart. In my recent work I’m working mainly with objects, installations and interventions in public spaces (outdoor installations and objects for fields, forests and lakes and urban spaces as well, giving them new dimensions by their alienation and transformation into another context).  The materials I’m using are mostly recycled or they are partly or fully coming from nature or are out of natural materials. Nature - the micro and macro cosmos - is an important subject of my body of work and can be presented indoor and outdoor as well. The non-natural materials (like the tights of my networks) used to be recycled again and again in new compositions after their use. The titles of my works many times are games with words and alliterations in different languages, which are giving the works a second, mostly ironical level. Recycling aspects are also important to me. My sources of inspiration for example are urban and natural structures, architecture, landscapes, maps, aerial photographs, politics... The most important thing, especially working in public spaces, is that this is a kind of art isn’t elitist and integrates ‘normal’ people, because in this situation they don’t have to enter the unknown world of a ‘white cube’ and become able to follow the artistical process.
