At the art academies of Maastricht and Groningen in the Netherlands, I got my master in interdisciplinairy art. After my studies I participated in art in nature symposiums in The Netherlands, USA, Norway, Finland and Germany and I exhibited my work on many locations. Besides working as an artist I organise art in nature projects in The Netherlands and in Sweden.

Today the trend in our everyday lives is to ‘use and discard’, instead of taking time to repair and restore our belongings. We would rather buy a new pair of socks than try to stitch up the holes, and we would rather buy a new chair than try to fix the broken leg on. 

Many wounds in nature, such as holes in leaves, are not inflicted by humans, they come from natural processes in the forest. Also human beings are responsable for a lot of damages in nature. Mankind disturbs natural processes without really showing the will to stop this.

With my work I want to create awareness that it can be worthwhile to look at the small details in nature, just to notice them ore to invest some time to ‘repair’ it. Old craft techniques as embroidery and crocheeting needs a lot of time investment. Everything in our society goes fasr and there is hardly time to reflect on all the processes going on. Using this ‘slow’ techniques forces me to stop hurrying for a while, to reflect, to be aware, to notice and to see. I want to create a visual metaphor for our responsibility for taking better care of our environment.
