Gate 

You can find many houses with some small and big bird houses on the top of their beautiful and symbolic gates in Transylvania. These bird houses are the peace symbol despite they real function, by taking a look at the entire gate you can see they are decorated with herbal and interlacing motifs from lower part to the upper part and some bird houses are at the part. Actually the herbs are the symbols of life and growing and bid house is symbol of death and descending human’s soul to another world. For me these bird houses which are installed in an old castle carry the meaning of life and death in a symbolic way
