Once a month, a group of artists gather in different spaces in the area around Cape Town in South Africa. The August gathering for 2014 was held in Arderne Gardens in Claremont - established in 1845 by Ralph Henry Arderne, a successful timber merchant originally from Cheshire, England, who acquired the land in Claremont where he built his home, known as The Hill. He collected plants from all over the world. In time, the garden became famous.
For my work for the day, I initially wanted to focus on 'endings' and 'beginnings', as it was during a New Moon, but I ended up responding to the beauty that I saw around me, rather creating what I felt was suited to the materials and spaces.
